Recipes - Almond Syrup Tart
Ingredients

75g/1 1/2 cups fresh white breadcrumbs
-
225g/1 cup golden syrup
-
finely grated rind of 1/2 lemon
-
10ml/2 tsp lemon juice
-
23cm/9in pastry case, made with basic, nut or rich
short crust pastry
-
25g/3 tbsp flaked almonds
-
milk, to glaze (optional)
-
cream, custard, ice cream, to serve
Method:

Preheat the oven
to 200'C/400"F/Gas 6. Combine the breadcrumbs with
the syrup and the lemon rind and juice.

Spoon into the
pastry case and spread out evenly. Sprinkle the
flaked almonds evenly over the top.

Brush the pastry
with milk to glaze, if you like. Bake for 25-30
minutes, until the pastry and filling are golden
brown.

Transfer
to a wire rack to cool. Serve warm or cold,
with cream, custard or ice cream.
