Low Fat Desserts Recipes - Wholemeal Herb Triangles

Ingredients

  • 225g wholemeal flour

  • 115g strong plain flour

  • 5ml salt

  • 2.5ml bicarbonate of soda

  • 5ml cream of tartar

  • 2.5m chili powder

  • 50g soft margarine

  • 250ml skimmed milk

  • 60ml chopped mixed fresh herbs

  • 15ml sesame seeds


Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 220'C/425"F/Gas 7. Flour a baking sheet. Put the wholemeal flour in a mixing bowl. Sift in the remaining dry ingredients, including the chili powder, then rub in the margarine.

  2. Add the milk and herbs and mix quickly to a soft dough. Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Knead very briefly or the dough will become tough.

  3. Roll out to a 23cm/9in circle and place on the prepared baking sheet. Brush lightly with water and sprinkle with the sesame seeds.

  4. Cut the dough round into 8 wedges, separate slightly and bake for 15-20 minutes. Transfer the triangles to a wire rack to cool. Serve warm or cold.
