Ingredients
Makes 1 loaf
Method:

Combine first 3 ingredients in bowl; mix well and
reserve.

Cream shortening; add sugar gradually
beating well after each addition. Add eggs, one at a
time, beating well after each addition.

Stir in
vanilla and milk; mix until smooth. Add dry
ingredients, 1/4 at a time, blending well after each
addition.

Fold in chopped nuts. Spoon into greased
loaf pan (9 x 5 x 3-inch).

Bake in moderate oven
(350°F) until done, 60-70 minutes.

Cool in pan 10
minutes; loosen edges and remove bread from pan.
Finish cooling on wire rack.
