Dessert Recipes - Peanut Butter Wheat Crackers Recipe

Ingredients     

  • 1 cup un-sifted flour

  • 1 cup un-sifted whole-wheat flour

  • 1/4 cup wheat germ

  • 1 1/2 tsp caraway seeds

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1 cup Skippy Super Chunk Peanut Butter

  • 1/2 cup (about) water

  • 2 Tbs cider vinegar

  • Milk

  • Coarse salt (optional)

Makes about 40 crackers


Method:

  1. In large bowl mix together flour, whole-wheat flour, wheat germ, caraway seeds, salt and baking soda.

  2. With pastry blender or two knives, cut in Peanut Butter until coarse crumbs form. Add water and vinegar; mix until dough holds together (if mixture is too dry additional water may be added 1 Tbs at a time).

  3. Divide dough in half. On lightly floured surface roll half of dough out to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut with 3-inch round cookie cutter. Repeat with scraps and remaining half of dough.

  4. Place on un-greased cookie sheet. Brush surface with milk. If desired, sprinkle with coarse salt.

  5. Bake in 375°F oven 13 to 15 minutes or until browned and crisp.

  6. Remove from pan and cool on wire racks. Store in airtight container.
