Dessert Recipes - Orange-Raisin Whole Wheat Cake Recipe

Ingredients 

  • 1 1/4 cups Pillsbury's Best All-Purpose Flour

  • 1 cup Pillsbury's Best Whole Wheat Flour

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 cup orange juice

  • 1/2 cup oil

  • 1 tsp grated orange rind

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 cup raisins

Honey-Nut Topping:

  • 1 Tbs cornstarch

  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/2 cup honey

  • 1/2 cup butter


Method:

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 8- or 9-inch square pan.

  2. Combine all ingredients except raisins; beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Stir in raisins. Pour into prepared pan.

  3. Bake at 350°F for 40-50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

  4. Serve with Honey-Nut Topping, if desired.

Honey-Nut Topping: In small saucepan, combine cornstarch and honey; add remaining ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture starts to boil. Continue cooking and stirring about 1 minute or until slightly thickened. Serve warm.
