Dessert Recipes - Never-Fail Pie Crust Recipe

Ingredients               

  • 4 to 4 1/4 cups Hecker's unbleached flour, sifted

  • 1 Tbs sugar

  • 3 tsp salt

  • 1 egg

  • 1 Tbs vinegar

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1 3/4 cups shortening

Serve 6 to 8


Method:

  1. Sift flour, sugar and salt into a large bowl. Beat the egg and combine with vinegar and water.

  2. Cut shortening into flour, sprinkle with egg mixture, and mix all together.

  3. Gather the dough into a ball, wrap in wax paper and chill for about 30 minutes before using.

  4. This dough can be kept in the refrigerator up to 1 week. Or you can divide it into 4 parts (1 pie shell each), wrap each securely and freeze.
