Dessert Recipes - Goodie Apple Sauce Cake Recipe

Ingredients                 

• 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

• 1 cup sugar

• 1/4 tsp baking powder

• 1 1/2 tsp baking soda

• 1 1/2 tsp salt

• 3/4 tsp cinnamon

• 1/2 tsp cloves, ground

• 1/2 tsp. allspice

• 1/2 cup shortenll1q, softened

• 1/2 cup water

• 1/2 cup nut meats, broken

• 1 cup raisins, cut up

• One 1-lb can Stokely's Finest Gravenstein Apple Sauce

• 1 large egg

Makes 18 servings

Method:

1. Sift together first eight ingredients. Add next four ingredients and beat for 2 minutes. Add last two ingredients and beat 2 more minutes.

2. Pour into greased and floured 12 x 7 1/2-inch pan and bake at 350°F for 45 to 50 minutes. Top with your favorite lemon frosting.

Note: For best flavor, bake the day before  serving.
