Dessert Recipes - Famous Oatmeal Cookies Recipe

Ingredients 

• 3/4 cup shortening, soft               

• 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar                          

• 1 tsp vanilla

• 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour

• 1 tsp salt

• 1/2 tsp baking soda

• 1/2 cup granulated sugar

• 1 egg

• 1/4 cup water

• 3 cups uncooked Quaker Oats

Method:

1. Beat together shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla until creamy.

2. Sift together flour, salt and soda; add to creamed mixture; blend.

3. Stir in oats. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.

4. Bake in preheated 350F oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
