Dessert Recipes - Chocolate "Philly" Soufflé Recipe

Ingredients 

  • 2 Tbs margarine

  • 2 Tbs flour

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • One 8-oz package Philadelphia Brand Cream Cheese, cubed

  • 2/3 cup sugar

  • Two 1-oz squares unsweetened chocolate, melted

  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla

  • 4 eggs, separated


Method:

  1. Make a white sauce with margarine, flour, milk and salt. Add cream cheese, 1/3 cup sugar, chocolate and vanilla; stir over low heat until smooth.

  2. Remove from heat. Gradually add slightly beaten egg yolks; cool slightly. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form.

  3. Gradually add remaining sugar, beating until stiff peaks form. Fold cream cheese mixture into egg whites. Pour into 1 1/4-quart soufflé dish or casserole.

  4. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour. Serve immediately.
