Dessert Recipes - Bavarian Apple Torte Sauce Recipe

Ingredients 

  • 1/2 cup Parkay Margarine

  • 1/3 cup sugar

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla

  • 1 cup flour

  • One 8-oz package Philadelphia Brand Cream Cheese

  • 1/4cup sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

  • 4 cups thin peeled apple slices

  • 1/3 cup sugar

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds


Method:

  1. Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in vanilla. Add flour; mix well. Spread on bottom and sides of 9-inch spring-form pan.

  2. Combine softened cream cheese and sugar, mixing until well blended. Blend in egg and vanilla. Pour into pastry-lined pan.

  3. Toss apples with com­bined sugar and cinnamon; spoon over cream cheese layer. Sprinkle with nuts.

  4. Bake at 450°F 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 400°F; continue baking 25 minutes.

  5. Loosen crust from rim of pan; cool before removing rim of pan.
