Dessert Recipes - Almond Penuche Recipe
Ingredients

3 cups brown sugar, packed

1/8 tsp salt
-
1 cup milk
-
2 Tbs light corn syrup
-
2 Tbs butter or
margarine
-
1 tsp vanilla
-
1 cup toasted
blanched slivered almonds
Method:

In saucepan combine sugar, salt, milk and syrup. Cook
over low heat, stirring constantly until sugar is
dissolved.

Boil gently, stirring often to 235°F, or
until a little mixture forms a soft ball in cold water.

Remove from heat. Add butter and cool without stirring.
Add vanilla. Beat until creamy and no longer shiny.

Stir in almonds and pour into buttered 8-inch square
pan. Cool and cut into squares.
