Dessert Recipes - Sesame Cookies Recipe

Ingredients              

• 2 cups flour

• 1 tsp baking powder

• 1/2 tsp baking soda

• 1/2 tsp salt

• 3/4 cup sesame seeds

• 1 cup packed brown sugar

• 1/2 cup sugar

• 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened

• 1 egg

• 1 teaspoon vanilla

Method:

1. Instructions for jar: Combine flour with baking powder, baking soda and salt. Spoon mixture into 1 liter jar.

2. Spread sesame seeds on baking sheet and brown lightly at 300 (148C).

3. Spoon toasted sesame seeds over flour. Layer brown sugar, and then sugar, over sesame seeds.

4. For baking: Preheat oven to 350° (176°C). Empty contents of jar into large bowl and stir to mix.

5. In small bowl, whisk butter with egg and vanilla. Add butter mixture to dry  ingredients and stir well.

6. Scoop teaspoonfuls of dough and roll into balls, place balls on sprayed baking sheet and flatten with fork. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
