Cold Desserts Recipes - Chocolate Banana Sundae Recipe

Ingredients

For the chocolate sauce:

• 50g/2oz dark chocolate

• 4 tablespoons golden syrup

• 1 tablespoon butter

• 1 tablespoon brandy

For the sundae:

• 4 bananas

• 150ml/1/4pt double cream

• 12 scoops vanilla ice-cream

• 75g/3oz chopped almonds (toasted)

• 4 fan wafer biscuits

Serves 4

Method:

1. To make the chocolate sauce, break the chocolate into small pieces and place in a heatproof bowl with the syrup and butter. Heat over a pan of hot water until melted, stirring until well combined. Remove the bowl from the heat and stir in the brandy.

2. Peel and slice the bananas and whip the cream until just holding its shape. Place a scoop of ice-cream in the bottom of each of 4 tall sundae glasses. Top with slices of banana, some chocolate sauce, a spoonful of cream and the nuts.

3. Repeat the layers, finishing with a good dollop of cream. Sprinkle with nuts and serve with fan wafer biscuits.
