Slice off the top surface of the cake to make it
flat. Place diagonally on the cake board
Tint the butter icing yellow. Use half of it to
cover the cake.
Using a round nozzle and a quarter of the remaining
butter icing, pipe a straight double border around
the top edge of the cake.
Place the red liquorices bootlaces on the piped
border. Snip
the bootlaces around the curves on the train.
Using a small star
nozzle and the remaining butter icing, pipe small
stars over the top of the cake. Add extra liquorices
and piping, if you like. Use a palette knife to
press on the Colored
vermicelli all around the sides of the cake.
Pull a couple of balls of cotton wool apart for the
steam and stick on the cake board with butter icing.
Press the liquorices wheels in place for the wheels.
