Biscuits, Bars And Cookies Recipes - Maple-Pecan Nut Brownies

Ingredients

  • 115g/1/2 cup butter, melted

  • 75g/1/2 cup light soft brown sugar

  • 30ml/5 tbsp maple syrup

  • 2 eggs

  • 115g/1 cup self-raising flour

  • 75g/3/4 cup pecan nuts, chopped

  • 115g/2/3 cup plain chocolate chips

  • 50g/1/4 cup unsalted butter

  • 12 pecan nut halves, to decorate


Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4. Line and grease a 25 x 18cm/10 x 7in cake tin.

  2. Beat together the melted butter, sugar, 60ml/4 tbsp of the maple syrup, eggs and flour for 1 minute, or until smooth. Stir in the nuts and transfer to the cake tin. Smooth the surface and bake for 30 minutes, until risen and firm to the touch. Cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  3. Melt the chocolate chips, butter and remaining syrup over a low heat. Cool slightly, then spread over the cake. Press in the pecan nut halves, leave to set for about 5 minutes, then cut into bars.
