Biscuits, Bars And Cookies Recipes - Chocolate-chip Brownies

Ingredients

  • 115g/4oz plain chocolate

  • 115g/1/2 cup butter

  • 3eggs

  • 200g/1 cup sugar

  • 2.5ml/1 /2 tsp vanilla essence

  • pinch of slat

  • 150g/1 1/4 cups plain flour

  • 175g/1 cup chocolate chips

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4. Then line a 33 x 23cm/13 x 9in baking tin with greaseproof paper and grease the paper.

  2. Melt the chocolate and butter together in the top of a double boiler, or in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of gently simmering water.

  3. Beat together the eggs, sugar, vanilla and salt. Stir in the chocolate mixture. Sift over the flour and fold in. Add the chocolate chips.

  4. Pour the mixture into the baking tin and spread evenly. Bake until just set, about 30 minutes. The brownies should be slightly moist inside. Leave to cool in the tin.

  5. To turn out, run a knife all around the edge and invert on to a baking sheet. Remove the paper. Place another sheet on top and invert again. Cut into bars for serving.
